Keep Your Pet Healthy With Proper Vaccinations.

Regular vaccinations and health checks are an essential part of looking after your pet and ensuring they live a long, happy and healthy life!

At Balwyn Veterinary Surgery we provide a range of vaccination services for cats, dogs and rabbits to protect your pet against a host of dangerous diseases.

Vaccinations work by stimulating your pet’s immune system to recognise and successfully fight potentially fatal diseases. Boosters are required periodically to remind your pet’s immune system how to fight off a specific disease, and keep their defenses in tip-top shape! The time between booster vaccinations varies from disease to disease.

Dogs

For dogs, we currently advocate triannual (once every 3 years) protection against the viral infections:

  1. Canine Parvovirus
  2. Canine Distemper
  3. Canine Hepatitis

We also advocate annual vaccination against ‘Kennel Cough’ – a very common upper respiratory disease in dogs.

Cats

For cats we advocate annual protection against the following viral diseases:

  1. Feline Panleukopenia (parvovirus)
  2. Feline Calicivirus
  3. Feline Herpesvirus

We also advocate annual vaccination against Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), also known as Feline Aids, particularly if your cat spends time outdoors.

Rabbits

For rabbits we advocate annual vaccination against the potentially fatal Rabbit Calicivirus.
